Explosion of Design

I have been playing with color and decided to create a few examples of fake books. In the process I even created a very colorful illustration. I am really enjoying these fake book covers.

Doing Children's Book

I will be doing a children's book for the next few months! It should be a lot of fun and help further my career. The subject matter is right up my skill set too. Be looking out for updates on this.

One week - Fully functional site

Well, I did a big haul this past week. It started Monday, August 25th, and it was done and ready by September 1st. That includes a phpBB forum with a mini chat I had to install myself. From sketch to finish it was about a week and a half. Here is the project board:


It was a lot of fun to make and it came out beautifully. I worked with two coders to get all the details down, and the administrator provided all the text. The colors were modified from a palette the Admin wanted. Everyone is pretty happy with how everything came out. And it is fully functional.

Donations

Well, as most people notice. I love animals and from this love of animals I created a series of adoption pieces. That is what that series on vector cats was for. In addition to creating those, I also tailored a few of my other pet images and sent an emailed packet of free graphics to a few of the local animal welfare organizations around Columbus. Hopefully they can find somewhere to use them.

Tweaked

Tweaked up my site so it is a bit more professional. I feel really good about the work on there. Here are a few little things I've done. I had a lot of fun with them, especially in palette selection. I think the colors are very nice together.

Life carries on

The creative juices are flowing. A lot has been going on and I am still on the hunt for work. I have developed a pretty good style of my own. Planning my wedding. Busy, busy, busy.

Freelance

Slowly

Slowly getting pieces made for my portfolio. Taking commissions from various sites to help pay some bills. Still keeping an eye out for work.

Settling Down

Mid September and things have settled down. I'm now in the process of cleaning up my old apartment. Barely any money left, but I'm making $50 per week now from tutoring someone in illustrator. Its enough to live on week by week. Thankfully my man has got a small opportunity to return to Columbus. So, we'll see how things fall in the next month.

Things are moving fast

Its almost september and still no jobs. I'm packing up all of my things and trying to find a storage unit. I'm going to try and stay around Columbus, looking for work and being available for any interviews. The stress of all of it is getting me down. I did finish creating icons for my freelance. Awaiting feedback from the client before proceeding towards the next step.

Change is Coming

Getting packed up slowly as the month comes down. Still no for sure job, but here's hoping. Been stormy to sunny all day. Haven't been inspired to create art today, my mood has been flickering. Fixed the net here and really kind of tired. Hope tomorrow brings good news.

Looking for a Job

Still working slowly but surely on my freelance. Still trying to find a stable job so I can get a new apartment. Packing up my room is a huge task. I never thought so much junk could fit in such a small area. Things are going though, hopefully it'll all go up by the end of summer.
